The library of the Department of History and Ethnology contains more than 25,000 volumes on history and social anthropology, whilst its collection of works on physical anthropology is probably the best in Greece. It also includes a collection of about 1,500 rare books and the whole collection is characterized by a general emphasis on Thrace and southeastern Europe. It also contains 393 journal titles, of which 212 are Greek and 181 non-Greek, with a total of 8433 issues. Copies of degree dissertations are also held in the library, summaries of which are available in Greek and English here. The website, in Greek, of the whole library system of Democritus University of Thrace can be found here and contains useful links to other Greek library and bibliographical sites.
